How this site decides what to publish
Rules we follow so a reader can tell the difference between a checked fact, a company's own claim, and something that depends entirely on their state.
Reviewed September 2026
Sourcing
- Legal and insurance-process explanations cite primary sources: state statutes, state insurance regulators, federal agencies such as CMS and the FTC, and official county offices. Where a page relies on a source, that source is listed at the bottom with a note on what it supports.
- We link to the exact supporting page rather than a home page whenever a stable one exists.
- Secondary commentary, law-firm blogs and content marketing are not used as sources for legal statements.
Attribution of company statements
When a page describes what a business says about itself, that is labelled as the company's own statement and quoted or closely paraphrased from its public site, with the date of review. Company self-description is never presented as verified fact. Every page that discusses a company also states plainly what we independently checked and what we did not.
Jurisdiction
Hospital-lien rules, claim-handling deadlines and health-plan reimbursement rights differ by state and by coverage type. Where we give an example, we name the state and cite its statute rather than implying a national rule. Readers are pointed to the office with authority over their own situation.
What we will not publish
- Invented customer reviews, testimonials, case results, professional credentials or independent endorsements.
- Private notice links, secure codes, recipient names, addresses, claim numbers or any other individual's information from a mailed notice.
- Predictions about the outcome or value of any reader's claim.
- Anything phrased as legal advice for a specific situation.
- Duplicate city or state pages written to catch search traffic, keyword-stuffed articles, or reciprocal link arrangements.
- Guarantees about search rankings, for this site or any other.
Review cycle
Every page carries a review date. Pages that quote a third-party website or a statute are re-checked at least twice a year, and sooner when a reader reports a change. If a source has moved or a quoted statement has been edited, the page is updated and the review date changes with it.
Corrections
Email hello@aftercrashcompass.com with the page, the sentence and the source. Factual errors are corrected in place, and a note is added to the page when the correction changes its meaning. No corrections have been issued yet; this section will list them as they occur.
Independence
No advertising, no sponsorships, no paid referral arrangements, and no intake forms. Nothing on this site is written or reviewed by a company it discusses.
